My self-inflating seat cushion or camp pillow won’t inflate, is something wrong with it?Updated 10 months ago
The seat cushion and camp pillow are compressed when purchased and tend to fill up slowly compared to those that have been stored fully inflated. The foam’s “memory” of inflation needs to be restored. By storing the seat cushion or camp pillow fully inflated you will find that the next time you take it anywhere it fills up faster.
In the meantime, here are some steps for helping restore the foam’s memory:
- Step One: Open the valves on your seat cushion/pillow and let it fill on its own for a moment.
- Step Two: Close the valves and begin rolling the air toward the bottom of the cushion/pillow (away from the valve). The air already in the cushion/pillow will fill force some memory back into the foam as it passes down the length of the cushion/pillow.
- Step Three: When air reaches all the way to the bottom, open the valves again and let the cushion/pillow resume filling.
This is also a great tip for the first time you use the pad after you’ve purchased it since it will be compressed at that time.
