What do I need to know if I want to put my canvas tent up for an extended period?Updated 10 months ago

Using your TETON Gear Canvas Tent for an extended period (over 10 days) or a permanent structure voids the warranty. We do not recommend using your tent as a permanent structure. If you plan to have your tent setup for 3+ weeks you will need to consider the following:

1) Canvas Rot: This unhappy condition happens when the canvas at the bottom of the tent is in constant contact with moisture on the ground. Your canvas will rot due to mold/mildew growth. You do not need to live in a humid area for this to happen to your tent.

2) Too Much Sun: Even though canvas tents are less likely to be damaged by too much sunlight than many synthetic fabrics, over time it will degrade the canvas and waterproofing. Be sure your tent only gets direct sunlight for a few hours a day.

3) Mold: If you live in a humid climate or set up your tent in a highly shaded area for long periods of time, you can expect it to accumulate mold. Prevent mildew growth by opening the tent up daily and letting it air out. It’s best if the tent gets a couple hours of direct sunlight a day.

Please keep in mind that TETON will not warranty any tent damaged by mold, mildew, or extended use. Our tents are intended for 7-10-day adventures and we hope you’ll make many happy memories with your TETON Canvas Tent.
